Ericsson R380
The first device marketed as a smartphone, combining PDA and phone functions with a unique keypad flip and EPOC operating system.
The Ericsson R380 is a groundbreaking device that was the first to be marketed specifically as a 'smartphone'. Running on the EPOC Release 5.1 operating system (a predecessor to Symbian OS), it combined the features of a standard mobile phone with the organizational capabilities of a personal digital assistant (PDA). It features a monochrome resistive touchscreen partially covered by a flip, and includes an infrared port, email and WAP browser support, and an advanced phonebook.
