Sharp 940SH (AQUOS SHOT)

Approx. Price USD 180

A high-end 'AQUOS SHOT' flip phone featuring a 12.1MP CCD sensor and a 180-degree rotating screen.

The Sharp 940SH is a premium entry in the 'AQUOS SHOT' series, designed as a hybrid between a high-end digital camera and a mobile phone. Released for SoftBank Japan, it features a 12.1-megapixel CCD sensor, which at the time offered vastly superior image quality and a mechanical shutter compared to CMOS sensors. The hardware is famous for its 180-degree 'Cycloid' rotating display, allowing the 3.4-inch ASV LCD to be used like a dedicated camera screen. It was also one of the first Japanese feature phones to incorporate Wi-Fi alongside traditional high-end features like a 1seg TV tuner and FeliCa mobile payments.
